Career HistoryFrom fit model to owner/designer, Nancy Bolen has enjoyed a long and successful career in the fashion industry. After graduating from Mount San Antonio College with a fashion merchandising degree, her first job was in retail, as a buyer.
With a need to express her creative side, Nancy joined City Girl in 1977 as a member of the design staff. Nine years later, she became a co-owner, continuing to define the direction of the company. In 1998, in recognition of her work and passion, City Girl received the California Excellence Award in Manufacturing from Apparel Industry Magazine.
Other honors include "Featured Designer" at both the Chicago and Kansas City Apparel Marts and a nomination for "Designer of the Year" in Atlanta and Dallas. With Nancy as the design force, City Girl is now sold in better specialty stores throughout the United States and Canada.
City Girl became a newly acquired division of Sharon Young, Inc., in 2006, joining the company’s portfolio of affordable women’s brands geared to the modern missy customer.
